Frequently asked questions
- Where do I find my annual electricity usage in kWh?
- Your annual usage in kWh is on your electricity bill, often shown as "annual consumption" or "estimated usage". If you have a smart meter, your supplier or in-home display can show this. Typical small business usage is in the thousands of kWh per year.
- What are unit rate and standing charge?
- The unit rate is the price you pay per kilowatt-hour (kWh) of electricity used. The standing charge is a daily fee that covers meter and supply costs. Both are shown on your bill in pence (p/kWh and p/day).
- How can I reduce my electricity cost?
- Switching to a cheaper tariff is the main lever. Use this calculator to see your current cost, then use a comparison service to get quotes from other suppliers. Fixing your rate can also protect you from price rises.
